Azerbaijan Adopted New National Standard to Enhance Quality and Safety in Healthcare Services
15 September, 2025

A New National Standard will help to provide security and wel-being of patients, also optimize the work of health institutions

In a significant step towards improving the quality, efficiency, and safety of healthcare services in Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijan Standardization Institute (AZSTAND), operating under the State Service for Antimonopoly and Consumer Market Control of the Republic of Azerbaijan, has officially adopted a new national standard: AZS ISO 7101:2023, titled “Healthcare organization management — Management systems for quality in healthcare organizations — Requirements.”

The newly adopted national standard aims to support the development of healthcare services, ensure patient safety and well-being, increase customer satisfaction, and enhance the efficiency of management processes in healthcare institutions.

AZS ISO 7101:2023 is based on the international standard ISO 7101:2023 and was developed in collaboration with the “Quality Association” Public Association. The draft standard was reviewed and agreed upon with the “Medical Territorial Units Management Association” LLC (TƏBIB), and subsequently approved by the Technical Committee on Conformity Assessment (AZSTAND/TC 08). It has now been included in the State Fund of Normative Documents on Standardization.

This initiative reflects Azerbaijan’s ongoing commitment to aligning national healthcare practices with international quality standards and improving the performance of the healthcare system for the benefit of the population.
